Designed for learners who want to develop skills, knowledge and understanding so that they can provide appropriate care and manage life-threatening conditions, minor illnesses, and injuries. It is also ideal for those who have the specific responsibility of providing basic first aid in voluntary and community activities.

It is designed for learners Manager, Supervisor or who want to develop skills, knowledge and understanding so that they can provide appropriate care and manage life-threatening conditions, minor illnesses and injuries. It is also ideal for those who have the specific responsibility of providing basic first aid in voluntary and community activities.
How long will it take
To complete this qualification learner should expect to undertake 8 hours of learning, with a minimum contact time, excluding breaks of 6 hours typically over 1 day.
Course overview
The qualification covers a range of essential emergency first aid topics including the role and responsibilities of a first aider, recognising signs and symptoms of injury and illness, managing unconscious casualties, cardiopulmonary (CPR) and responding to incidents, such as choking or external bleeding.
Certificate validity
None
The Level 2 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work is valid for a period of three years. After this period, individuals wishing to retain their status as emergency first aider must re-qualify.
Assessment method
This qualification is assessed by a practical demonstration and written/oral questioning.
